Winners of the 2027 Greenhill Gardens Floral Bedding Display Revealed
The Mayor of Weymouth has announced the Veterans Hub Weymouth and Portland Community Interest Company (CIC) has been chosen to feature as the 2027 floral bedding display at Greenhill Gardens.
Each year, the logo or crest of a local charitable organisation is recreated by Weymouth Town Council’s gardening team in a floral tribute, with the eye-catching display enjoyed by many residents and visitors to the town.
Rachel Gray, Manager and Company Secretary at the Veterans Hub, Weymouth and Portland CIC, said: “We are incredibly proud and touched that The Veterans Hub Weymouth and Portland CIC has been chosen for the floral bedding display at Greenhill Gardens in 2027, the year we celebrate our 10th anniversary.
“What began in 2017 as a small, two-hour weekly drop-in has grown into something far greater than we could ever have imagined. Over the past decade, the Hub has become a place of friendship, support, hope and belonging for so many people within our community. Behind those 10 years are countless stories of lives changed, friendships made and people finding the support they needed when it mattered most.
“To see the Hub recognised in such a beautiful setting is a wonderful tribute, not just to what we have achieved, but to every volunteer, supporter and member of our community who has helped make the Hub what it is today. We cannot think of a more fitting way to mark this special milestone, and we hope the display will be enjoyed by everyone who visits Greenhill Gardens, it really does mean a great deal to us.”
The Mayor of Weymouth, Cllr David Harris was involved in the decision-making process along with some of the Council’s gardeners and Greenspaces Manager and selected the Hub as the organisation to have its logo set in flowers in the gardens in 2027.
Cllr Harris said: “Weymouth has such a strong connection with our Armed Forces community, so it is fitting that the Veterans Hub Weymouth and Portland CIC have been selected to be represented in next year’s floral tribute at Greenhill Gardens. They do such valuable work supporting veterans from their community base in Wyke, and our gardeners are keen to use an array of colourful flowers to recreate their logo and mark the tenth anniversary since they were set up.”
