Weymouth Town Council launches autumnal photography competition

Building on past success, and taking inspiration from the wonderful scenes created by autumn, Weymouth Town Council is launching it’s second photo competition of the year.

Cllr Caroline Nickinson, Mayor of Weymouth, said: “From vibrant colours and stunning sunsets to wonderful wildlife and falling leaves, this time of year provides a great opportunity to capture some wonderful seasonal images that really show off the best that Weymouth has to offer.

“After having the pleasure of meeting the winner of the summer photo competition, I am looking forward to seeing people’s autumnal photographs showcasing Weymouth at this time of year. So don’t forget to submit your favourite photos by the closing date of Wednesday 22nd October and tell us why you love it.”

The overall winner of the competition will be invited to watch the fireworks from a prime location near the beach bonfire on Wednesday 5th November.

How to enter?

The photo competition is open until 5pm on Wednesday 22nd October.
Please email a jpeg of your favourite autumnal view of Weymouth at least 2MB in size to comms@weymouthtowncouncil.gov.uk
You should include a brief line to explain why you like it, when and where it was taken.

After the closing date

Once the closing date for entries has passed, Weymouth Town Council will feature a shortlist of images on their social media channels, with followers having the opportunity to vote for their favourite three on Facebook; which will then feature as the new cover photo on the social media account. The overall winner will be invited to watch the firework display from the Beach Office balcony on November 5th.

Terms and conditions

By submitting an entry to this competition, individuals consent to Weymouth Town Council using the images on social media, along with your name and why you like the image.

All artwork must be the photographer’s own work. Images with watermarks are not able to be accepted.

Please give a brief description of where the image was taken, why you like it and when it was taken.

Good luck!
