The countdown is on to the Love Your Weymouth Festival!

If you love Weymouth, then a brand-new event called Love Your Weymouth Festival is for you! It’s free and takes place on Tuesday 13th February in the Council Chambers, The New Town Hall, Commercial Road between 10am and 2pm.

Weymouth Town Council’s new event for 2024 aims to bring people together from across the town to get tips on energy-saving, healthy eating and what can be done to tackle the effects of climate change.

It’s being held during the school holidays in February so that families can come along and get involved in some of the free activities. Children can make some hanging water catchers, windmills or just do some colouring. Or why not jump on the smoothie bike that will be at the event and make a delicious pedal-powered drink. A face painter will be doing nature-themed face paints including beautiful butterflies.

Local group the Friendly Food Club will be at the festival demonstrating some great recipes to sample and festival goers can grab a free recipe card!

Cllr Kate Wheller, Mayor Weymouth, will be in attendance. She said: “I’m looking forward to meeting stallholders who will be at the festival, and learning more at the various talks on how as a town we can come together to help tackle climate change.

“Leading experts will be sharing their knowledge about recycling, composting, climate change, wildflowers, biodiversity and much more. Please come along to the first Love Your Weymouth Festival on February 13th and discover even more things to love about our unique coastal town.”

On the line-up, there will be tips and talks from organisations including the Repair Café, Weymouth Town Council, Dorset Wildlife Trust and Greenpeace. Ants On A Rock will also be there talking about invertebrates. The event promises an array of environment stalls from local groups and organisations.

On top of all this, there is a free entry prize draw with some great prizes kindly donated by Nothe Fort, Sealife Centre, Sandworld, Weymouth Swimming Pool, Ridgewater Energy, Coastline Cruises and our very own Weymouth Town Council beach resort team.

In response to the climate threat, Weymouth Town Council declared a climate emergency in 2019 and is committed to making the Council’s activities net zero carbon by 2030.

For more information visit the website. No booking required, just turn up to the free event anytime between 10am and 2pm on Tuesday 13th February.
