Statement on the passing of the Duke of Edinburgh
Mayor of Weymouth Town Council Graham Winter responds to the announcement that Prince Philip, Duke of Edinburgh has died this morning.
Graham Winter, Mayor of Weymouth Town Council said:
“With great sadness, Weymouth Town Council joins the nation in mourning the death of His Royal Highness Prince Philip, the Duke of Edinburgh. The longest-serving consort to a British monarch, he has been a major national figure for more than seven decades.
Our thoughts and deepest sympathies are with the Royal Family and we send our condolences.
As a mark of respect, the Union Flag on the Council Flagpole will be flown at half-mast for the eight days of national mourning.”
