Reminder that Cove Street toilet block is temporarily closed for refurbishment
Cove Street toilet facilities were closed today (Monday 30th September) while the block undergoes a full refurbishment.

The work will is anticipated to last for approximately three months. Improvements include moving the disabled toilet door so that it is more accessible. The new urinals and toilets that will be installed will be fed from the mains supply meaning more efficient use of water. Sensor flushes, and sensor taps will also be put in.
LED lighting will also be installed which will make the facilities a lot lighter than the current block, as well as being more energy efficient. And a better ventilation system will also be installed.
The work is being carried out now to keep disruption to a minimum. While Cove Street toilets are closed, the nearest available public toilet facilities are at Nothe Gardens or Maiden Street.
The facilities have been fenced off during the refit. Once complete and reopened, a charge of 50p will be introduced to use the new toilets. An electronic payment system will be installed, and visitors will then be able to use a bank card or smartphone to make the payment. Anyone using a radar key will still have access to the disabled toilet once refurbishment is complete.
Cllr Matt Bell, Chair of Environment and Services Committee, said: “While the toilets at Cove Street are temporarily closed for refurbishment from 30th September, I would like to apologise for any inconvenience this may cause in the short term. However, once completed the new facilities in this busy part of the town will be much improved.”
