Refurbishment of Maiden Street Toilets

Maiden Street toilet facilities will temporarily close next month for a full refurbishment, Weymouth Town Council has announced.

The work is due to start on Monday 2nd November and will take approximately five months to complete. During this time the facilities will need to be completely closed to the public and will be fenced off.

The work that needs to be carried out includes refurbishing the disabled toilets and installing a better ventilation system within the block. The new urinals and toilets that will be installed will be fed from the mains meaning more efficient use of water. Sensor flushes, and sensor taps will also be put in. LED lighting will also be installed which will make the facilities a lot lighter than the current block, as well as being more energy efficient.

Cllr Ryan Hope, Chair of Environment and Services Committee, said: “Maiden Street toilet block will undergo a full refurbishment from November 2nd. This is part of Weymouth Town Council’s commitment to improving these facilities across the town over the next few years. While the work is taking place, the facilities will need to be closed, and I would like to thank members of the public for their patience and understanding while this essential work is carried out.”

The programme of refurbishment work was approved by the Council earlier in the year.
