Free parking dates selected to support Weymouth events
Events including beach motocross, Remembrance Sunday, and the Christmas lights switch on have been selected for free parking by Weymouth Town Council. The events take place on the following dates:
Sunday 20th October, Weymouth and Portland Lions Club Beach Motocross event – free use of the Pavilion Forecourt and Pavilion rear car park for event set up and participants.
Sunday 10th November, Remembrance Sunday service and parade – free use of all Dorset Council operated town centre car parks.
Saturday 30th November, the town’s Christmas lights switch on event – free use of all Dorset Council operated town centre car parks.
In addition, a fourth date was also agreed prior to the pre-election period for Weymouth’s prestigious Armed Forces event on Sunday 23rd June with free use of all Dorset Council operated town centre car parks.
Dorset Council also offer a further date for free to support Small Business Saturday which is usually held early in December.
The dates were selected at the town council’s Environment and Services Committee on Wednesday 29th May, following a survey of event organisers. The three days and car park locations agreed last night will now be submitted to Dorset Council for approval.
Weymouth has a proud tradition of putting on events that attract diverse crowds to the town, and the Town Council is grateful to Dorset Council for offering free parking on these dates.
