Christmas lights switched on in Weymouth
Weymouth Town Council’s town centre Christmas lighting installations were successfully switched on last Saturday (30th November).
In line with the declared climate emergency, the Council have used low energy LED lighting throughout the town; any tungsten filament lamps in the festoon necklaces have been replaced with 1-watt LED lamps to drastically reduce consumption.
A variety of new low energy lighting decorations have been added to this year’s display to add some extra colour to the town centre.
A Weymouth Town Council spokesperson said: “We would like to thank the Weymouth BID for contributing to the installation and Turrell Ltd, our electrical contractor, for a thoroughly professional job in installing the lighting displays in often challenging weather conditions.”
