Applications open for grants to support community work in Weymouth

Weymouth Town Council is looking to hear from local groups and organisations who could benefit from a grant to support their work in the community.

Funding is available through the Community Grant Scheme, which aims to benefit organisations that work with communities in Weymouth and can be used to help fund new projects, equipment, events or training. The next deadline to apply for a community grant is Wednesday 25th February.

Some recent examples of funding awarded by Weymouth Town Council include Friends of Radipole Park and Gardens, who received £1,422 to host several nature related events using local artists, makers and writers.

Brave Bold Drama received £4,950 to support their work to help local children to use Weymouth’s Mural Trail and are working together to create short radio dramas telling stories inspired by different murals around the town.

St Nics Community Interest Company were successful in applying for £1,768.87 to purchase a new lighting rig, which will help showcase the work of local artists and be available for community groups to borrow to support their own events and projects.

Cllr David Civil, Chair of the Finance and Governance Committee, said: “Weymouth Town Council’s Community Grants Scheme enables local groups to gain valuable funding to help support their work for the benefit of residents. If you think your group or charity could benefit, I encourage you to find out more and apply ahead of the deadline of Wednesday 25th February.”

Here are the details on how to apply
