Meet the team: Michelle
Michelle’s role forms part of a team who are responsible for the cleanliness and maintenance of our public amenities in Weymouth. Michelle and her colleagues look after a total of 9 toilet blocks around the town:
“I like being out and about, meeting members of the public and delivering a good service.”
Michelle, who has always worked in cleaning, has been employed by a range of companies and organisations over the last 16 years. Michelle is particularly proud of working in Weymouth through the 2012 Olympics, which brought an exceptionally high number of visitors:
“While it was an incredibly busy time and required a lot of hard work, there was a real feeling of excitement and appreciation for our town and local area.”
The cleansing of our public toilets is now managed by the town council and staff were moved from Dorset Council to Weymouth Town Council in February 2020. Michelle says she enjoys working for the new town council, which was set up in April 2019:
“The people and the team make this a great organisation to work for. We’re a sociable team and management are always approachable if I have any questions or problems.”
In the current situation the hygiene and cleanliness of our public facilities is more important than ever. Michelle has been working hard to ensure that the toilets are cleaned to a high standard and the public can still use them during lockdown.
