Weymouth’s Remembrance Sunday Service to go ahead

Weymouth’s Annual Service of Remembrance will be taking place at the Nothe Fort on Sunday 8 November.

Weymouth Town Council had cancelled the event following the proposed national restrictions which were announced by the Prime Minister over the weekend. However, having received additional government guidance, the council are pleased to confirm the service can go ahead as planned.

A council spokesperson said:

“We’re delighted to be able to mark Remembrance Sunday with a service, as originally planned. The safety of those attending is our top priority, and we will ensure social distancing and government guidelines are followed throughout.”

The event is invitation only and will not be open to the public, however it will be available to stream live. Residents are invited to get involved and mark the moment with a 2-minute silence at home, or on their doorstep.
