Weymouth Town Council to host free family event in Littlemoor Park to celebrate Love Parks Week.
Weymouth Town Council is joining in with Love Parks Week by hosting a free, family event in Littlemoor Park on Friday 31st July from 10am – 2pm.
Love Parks Week is an annual campaign that runs until Sunday 2nd August 2026, which celebrates parks and greenspaces, shines a light on all those who look after them and highlights the role they place in bringing communities together and enhancing personal wellbeing.
Along with volunteers and various Friends Groups, the Town Council maintains several greenspaces across Weymouth and are looking forward to hosting this event in Littlemoor Park, which will bring people together to experience the benefits of being outdoors and take part in a variety of fun activities, suitable for all the family.
From face painting, live music and crafts, to yoga, story time, a bee-themed treasure hunt and gardening activities, it is shaping up to be a jam-packed day with something for everyone to enjoy. Plus, following a successful debut at the Nothe Gardens last year, the teddy bear zipwire will be making a welcome return. Children are invited to bring along their favourite teddy or cuddly toy and join in with the fun and watch it whizz through the air!
Timings for events are shown below:
10:30am and 12.15pm: Storytime with the library
11am, 12.45pm and 1.45pm: Live music
11:30am and 1.15pm: Family Yoga
Also at the event will be Dorset Wildlife Trust, Tumbledown Community Growspace and Dorchester and Weymouth Beekeeper Association. The Friendly Food Club will also be on hand with some fun games and activities.
Cllr Peter Dickenson, Deputy Mayor of Weymouth, will be opening the event and said: “We are so proud of our parks and gardens, and are delighted to be joining in with Love Parks Week by hosting this free event in Littlemoor, which will be fun for all the family. Whether you would like to take part in the treasure hunt, listen to stories, enjoy live music or watch your teddy whizz down the zipwire, there is so much going on to keep everyone entertained. This event is a great opportunity for the community to come together and enjoy being in the great outdoors in Littlemoor Park. I hope to see you there on Friday 31st July.”
There will also be refreshments from Weymouth’s Favourite Mr Whippy, Mobile Coffee Bar, Maltons Drinks Company and Littlemoor Hub will be offering slushies to keep everyone cool.
People interested in taking part in the yoga sessions are encouraged to bring their own towel or mat.
