Weymouth is getting ready for the return of the Armed Forces Weekend!

This year’s Armed Forces Weekend will be held between Saturday 17th June and Monday 19th June.  

Armed Forces and veterans continue to make a significant contribution to the nation and Weymouth by celebrating and providing a focus on the veteran’s charities and associations. 

The event will start on Saturday 17th June from 10am with the arrival of the historic military vehicles on the Pavillion Forecourt with them parading along the Esplanade at 12.30pm. There will be Association charities and awareness stalls located on Weymouth Esplanade throughout the day.  

On Sunday 18th June at 11am Weymouth Seafront will host an open air service for all Veterans at the Cenotaph which will be followed by a Parade along the sea front with marching bands and military vehicles. There will be band performances throughout the afternoon. 

On Monday 19th June at 10.30am, the weekend will end with Weymouth Town Council raising the flag at The New Town Hall, Commercial Road, Weymouth. 

Mayor of Weymouth, Cllr Kate Wheller said: “Weymouth is very proud to have the veterans association and support of the communities to stage such a popular weekend event. I am looking forward to attending and welcoming all residents and visitors.” 

Cllr Christine James, Armed Forces Covenant Champion added: “The Weymouth Armed Forces weekend celebrations is an opportunity to recognise and celebrate the work carried out by veterans and their associations. I will also be promoting the Armed Forces Covenant in a bid to get local businesses to sign up.”
