Time is Running out to Nominate for a Mayor’s Community Award

The Mayor of Weymouth, Cllr Caroline Nickinson, is on the lookout for unsung heroes who go the extra mile to help others in the community to be nominated for a Mayor’s Community Award, and with just over a week to go, time is running out to make your nomination.

Cllr Caroline Nickinson, Mayor of Weymouth, said: “Nominations for the Mayor’s Community Awards 2026 are open, and I can’t wait to see who the public put forward to have their efforts recognised. I’ve met some amazing people so far during my term of office as Mayor, and I know Weymouth is a very community-spirited town with people who do incredible things for their community.  

“Please nominate by the closing date of Wednesday 22nd April, and share this with friends, family or work colleagues, and let’s get those nominations pouring in!” 

Nomination Criteria 

  1. Those nominating and the nominees being put forward for an award must live within the Weymouth Town Council boundary. 
  2. Nominees, whether an individual or group, need to be providing support within the Weymouth boundary. 
  3. Nominees cannot be a serving Councillor or staff member at Weymouth Town Council. 
  4. Nominee/group does not receive financial recompense regarding this nomination i.e. they volunteer. 
  5. If the nominee is an individual under 18 years of age, then permission must be sought from their parent/guardian. 
  6. Nominations must be received by 12pm on the closing date of  Wednesday 22nd April. 

How Do I Nominate? 

Nominations can be made by contacting your local ward Councillor. Tell them the name of the person or group you would like to nominate and why you are nominating them. Nominees will be shortlisted after the closing date and will be invited to Weymouth Town Council’s Full Council meeting in May to meet the Mayor and receive a certificate. 

If you don’t know who your Councillor is or how to contact them, you can visit the Councillor page on Weymouth Town Council’s website. 

Nominations are open until 12pm on Wednesday 22nd April, so get nominating today. Good luck!
