Round-up of Decisions from Environment and Services Committee

Weymouth Town Council’s Environment and Services Committee made the following decisions at its meeting on Wednesday 4th March.

Beach Hire Review

Card-only payments to hire the Council’s deckchairs, sun loungers and windbreaks will be trialled for the 2026 season. A full operational and financial review of the trail will be brought back to the committee at the end of this summer season. Officers to have the discretion to reintroduce cash payments if income is negatively impacted, no earlier than the end of June 2026. An additional 30p charge to apply to each item per cash transaction if cash will be reintroduced.

Events Policy – Green Events Commitment

The committee approved to soft launch the Events Policy and Green Events Commitment for 12 months, and agreed that during this time officers would train, support and provide guidance to all event organisers, with an emphasis on community event organisers.
