Pop-up event will showcase Weymouth Town Council services

Come and meet councillors and staff from Weymouth Town Council on Saturday 6th August at a pop-up event held in the Weymouth Information Shop (WIS).

Meet Your Town Council runs from 10am to 2pm and provides an opportunity to find out more about the work of the council and current projects including Tumbledown community project, the Neighbourhood Plan and what’s next for the Seafront Masterplan. There will be stands, information and interactive games on how to set a council budget. Join the team at the WIS, located on St Mary’s Street, Weymouth town centre.

Town Clerk Jane Biscombe said: “We’d love to see you at the pop-up event on Saturday 6th August. Weymouth Town Council services are wide-ranging and cover everything from events and celebrations, to cemeteries, public toilets, our play parks, allotments, the promenade, and our award-winning parks, gardens, and Weymouth Beach. But we’re also developing a former farm – Tumbledown – into a community asset where fruit and veg is grown and sold, and people are supported with learning and volunteering opportunities.

“And did you know that our council offices, now known as The New Town Hall, can also be used for weddings? With a Heritage Lottery grant, we’re also working with the Friends of Radipole Park and Gardens to transform this space for future generations to enjoy. And we can help local groups with grants for projects that benefit Weymouth’s communities. And that’s just a snapshot of everything we’re working hard on to deliver for Weymouth residents.”

There will be free children’s activities as well, so come along to the pop-up event anytime between 10am and 2pm and find out more or ask any questions about Weymouth Town Council’s services.
