Greenspaces Team clear up after Storm Goretti
Weymouth Town Council’s Greenspaces Team have been working hard in Melcombe Regis Cemetery this week, clearing up after Storm Goretti swept through the town last weekend.
The team have been safely managing and clearing a double-stemmed Monterey Cypress tree that sadly came down during the storm. The tree was 14 metres tall, with around a 15 metre spread and a dry weight of around 15.2 tonnes, and having made the area safe for members of the public, work on the tree began.
Once the team have finished, some of the wood will stay in the cemetery to create habitat for wildlife, and some of it will be going to The Wey Valley Academy to use. The Town Council will also look at other ways to make use of the remaining wood.
