Autumnal events still to come in Weymouth
With November just on the horizon, thoughts will soon be turning to all things festive, however there are still several events taking place in Weymouth next month to help brighten up those shorter days.
The first date for your diary is Friday 31st October, as Tumbledown hosts an autumnal themed Family Food Festival from 10am – 1pm. Visitors can try their hand at pumpkin carving and pizza making using some of the wonderful veg grown on site, and there will also be popcorn making, games and crafts. Why not join Primary Forest School for some campfire cooking in the woods or have a go at the games and crafts that will be on offer? You can find out more information here.
Weymouth’s annual Bonfire Night and firework display is almost here! After a busy summer season, the fireworks return one last time in 2025 with a fantastic display over the bay on Wednesday 5th November. There will be a range of food and trade stalls along the promenade from 5pm, with the beach bonfire being lit at 7.40pm, followed by the fireworks at 8pm. This event is always popular, and the town can get busy, so visitors are encouraged to walk or use public transport where possible to get there early and find their favourite viewing spot, ready to enjoy great evening in Weymouth.
The Remembrance Sunday service and parade is on Sunday 9th November, and is always well attended due to Weymouth’s rich military history. The service takes place at Weymouth War Memorial on the seafront, opposite the Prince Regent Hotel, from 10.55am. Members of the public are welcome to attend and join the Mayor of Weymouth and representatives from the Armed Forces communities to remember the sacrifices of all those who defend our freedoms. At 11am, members of the Nothe Fort Garrison will fire the first cannon from the beach at 11am, which signals the start of the two-minute silence, followed by a second at 11.02am to mark the end. There will be a wreath laying service at the Weymouth War Memorial followed by a parade along the Esplanade to the US Memorial Service where a short wreath laying ceremony will also take place.

On Sunday 9th November, the Town Council will be lighting Weymouth’s iconic Jubilee Clock red to mark Remembrance Sunday.
Crowds will gather around the Christmas tree in New Bond Street at 5pm on Saturday 29th November for the ever-popular Christmas lights switch-on! This follows a full day of festive fun, with a variety of activities and entrainment, including a giant elf parade, taking place to get everyone in the Christmas spirit, organised by We Are Weymouth. Visit their website for more information.
The Mayor of Weymouth, Cllr Caroline Nickinson said: “Autumn is a wonderful season, and although we are past the busy summer months, Weymouth still has so much to offer, with many exciting events to come. November hosts some of the town’s biggest events, such as Remembrance Sunday and Bonfire Night, and I am looking forward to being a part of them”.
Plus, there will be free parking in Dorset Council operated town centre car parks on selected dates to support some of the events listed above. More information can be found here.
