Apply for free use of car parks to support charitable events in 2026

Event organisers in Weymouth are being invited to apply for free parking to support their event, thanks to a partnership between Dorset Council and Weymouth Town Council. Applications can be made by completing an online survey which runs until 12pm on Wednesday 1st April.

Four days can be selected for local organisations to use Dorset Council operated car parks in Weymouth free of charge, except in December. This will support events that will encourage high footfall in the town.

Weymouth-based charities and local organisations can now apply by completing a short survey which asks for details including the size of the event and benefit to the town, and which car park(s) they would like to select. Available car parks include Cosens Quay, Governors Lane, Harbourside, Melcombe Regis, North Quay, Park Street, Pavilion, Pavilion Forecourt, Royal Yard, Swannery, the Nothe and Lodmoor.

Applications will then be considered by the Environment and Services Committee in April. Committee Chair, Cllr Matt Bell, said: “It’s great to be able to work in partnership again with Dorset Council to offer free parking dates to support popular events in our seaside town.

“This will provide a real boost for the town while supporting event organisers to draw more people to come and enjoy a day out in Weymouth. If you would like your event to be considered for free parking this year, please complete our short online survey by the deadline of 12pm on 1st April.”

A reminder that the four days that can be selected for free parking does not include the month of December. Small Business Saturday, which falls on 5th December, is an automatic inclusion in the scheme, with Dorset Council car parks in the town centre free of charge for the day.

Any questions about applications can be emailed to events@weymouthtowncouncil.gov.uk.
