King Charles III Coronation

The official coronation programme includes a procession and service at Westminster Abbey on 6th May, the Coronation Big Lunch across the country on 7th May, and The Big Help Out community volunteering activity on bank holiday Monday, 8th May.
What’s happening in Weymouth?
Grants forms for the Big Help Out will be available / launched week commencing 10th April.
Councillors on Weymouth Town Council’s Services Committee agreed a Community Coronation Concert will take place on Sunday 7th May on the beach. And a firework display across the bay will also take place on the Sunday at 9.30pm. More details on timings for the concert will be publicised in due course.
Funding to support coronation events and activities
Funding worth £1,000 is available to encourage community groups to take part in the Big Help Out volunteering event on Monday 8th May, with groups able to apply for up to £100 towards the cost of putting on an activity.
This complements the small grants available for community celebrations over the special weekend which was made at a previous committee meeting. Local charities and organisations can apply for grants of up to £350 to put on community picnics, flower shows, art projects, exhibitions or displays. This grant pot is available to support charity, community groups, not for profit organisations and schools to celebrate the King’s Coronation. A maximum of £350 is available to any one group to meet the costs of community events over the special bank holiday weekend (Saturday 6th, Sunday 7th and Monday 8th May 2023).
