Round-Up of Key Decisions at Finance and Governance Committee

From community grants to a drone display, our Finance and Governance Committee agreed the following items at Wednesday night’s meeting (July 22nd.)

Two community grants were given out, including one to Hope House Children’s, Community and Youth Hub and one to Weymouth Cricket Club.

The Hope House grant of £5,000 will be used to fund some subway artwork working with a facilitator to create this with young people on two underpasses in Westham by the Swannery. The cricket club will use the £2,010 awarded to replace the matting they use on their indoor training sessions and a trolley to transport the equipment.

A Service Level Agreement of £5,000 was also agreed for Weymouth Museum to help with the costs associated with running the pop up museum in St Thomas Street until they move to their permanent home at Brewers Quay.

The committee also agreed to allocate funding of up to £10,000 for a pilot drone display which would be held as part of this year’s November 5th Firework Night event. The 10-minute show would be in addition to the traditional firework display and beach bonfire, allowing the public to experience a drone show in Weymouth. The item will now be referred to Full Council on July 29th for a final decision.

A revised Complaints Policy and a Planning with Purpose corporate planning document were also agreed and these will go to Full Council on July 29th for consideration.
