Still Time to Have Your Say on Draft Proposals for 20mph Speed Limits in Weymouth

Residents are being reminded to have their say on draft proposals for 20mph speed limits in eight areas in Weymouth before the survey closes on Monday 20th July.

The focus of the Phase One engagement is on areas around local schools, with the aim of making it safer and easier for children, families and residents to walk, wheel and cycle.

The eight residential areas include Coombe Valley, Littlemoor, Lodmoor South, Radipole, Southill, a Town Centre Extension, and two areas in Wyke Regis, one East of Portland Road, and one West of Portland Road. Residents are also being asked if there are any other areas that should be considered in future phases.

Cllr Matt Bell said: “Thank you to everyone who has taken the time to respond to the survey so far, your feedback on the draft proposals for 20mph speed limits in Weymouth is important to the Town Council. The proposals highlight areas where we believe improvements could be made to road safety, particularly around some of the routes to schools.

“For anyone who hasn’t had chance to have a say, please take the time to read through the details and give us your feedback before the survey closes on Monday 20th July. Thank you.”

Following this engagement, areas that receive strong community support will be put forward in a formal application to Dorset Council to consider.

Maps showing the different areas – which focus on residential streets as opposed to main roads – can be viewed in the survey here, and on the Council’s website. Hard copies of the survey are also available at libraries and the Town Council’s office at The New Town Hall on Commercial Road.

The survey is live until 5pm on Monday 20th July.
