Floral Tribute to the Lexi May Trust Unveiled in Greenhill Gardens
After weeks of hard work, Weymouth Town Council’s gardeners have completed this year’s charity bedding design in Greenhill Gardens, which is a tribute to the Lexi May Trust.
The Lexi May Trust provides memorable days out for children who have a terminal or life limiting condition living in Dorset, with the logo of the charity being central to the floral design that was designed by Lexi’s mum. The crest features a star and a horseshoe, which represents Lexi’s love and passion for horse riding. The floral tribute in Greenhill Gardens also includes 10 stars around the outside of the logo, representing the 10th anniversary of the trust.
On Monday 22nd June, Carly Hopkin, Trustee of the Lexi May Trust and Lexi’s mother, joined the Mayor of Weymouth, Cllr David Harris, the Friends of Greenhill Gardens and Weymouth Town Council staff, including members of the Greenspaces Team, to celebrate the completed piece.
Within the design, which was overseen by Weymouth Town Council gardener Jamie, are 15,000 individual plants, each complementing one another to create a truly striking and eye-catching feature in these much-loved and popular gardens.
The Mayor of Weymouth, Cllr David Harris said: “It was an honour to meet Lexi’s mum Carly, and to hear about the wonderful work of this local charity, who do so much to support young people with terminal illness and life-limiting conditions, including providing memorable and special days out. Carly was amazed at the 15,000 plants in the display and the way Jamie had captured the logo of their charity.
“The charity bedding display in Greenhill Gardens is fantastic, and I would like to thank the gardeners involved in creating such a beautiful tribute. If you are walking through the gardens, please do stop to take a look.”
Carly Hopkin added: “The Lexi May Trust are delighted to have been chosen for 2026 Charity garden design.
“The design has captured the logo beautifully. The logo features a horseshoe, as Lexi was a keen horse rider and a star for being the star she was when receiving radiotherapy treatment. The 10 stars surrounding the design represent the 10th year anniversary of supporting families in Dorset and was an added extra by the gardeners.
“The Lexi May Trust would like to thank all involved in their efforts to create such a fitting tribute.”
