Planning Application Submitted for Bandstand

Weymouth Town Council has submitted a planning application to Dorset Council for a bandstand and decking located near to the US Memorial area of the promenade.

If approved, this would be an exciting addition to the seafront that could be used as the perfect backdrop for weddings by the sea, hosting outdoor theatre performances, or providing a space for military bands to play when the Town Council host various armed forces services and events.

The plans are currently being consulted on via Dorset Council and the planning reference is P/FUL/2026/00467 for anyone who would like to see more detail, or comment. A decision is expected to be made in March.

If the proposals are given the go ahead, Weymouth Town Council would then go out to tender for the contract to build the new facilities.

This is part of the Town Council’s Seafront Masterplan Strategy work, and budget has already been earmarked towards construction costs.
