Weymouth Town Council to celebrate Love Parks Week with free event in the Nothe Gardens

Love Parks Week takes place from 25th July to August 3rd and to mark this, Weymouth Town Council is hosting a free, family event in the Nothe Gardens on Thursday 31st July from 10am to 2pm.

Weymouth is home to many beautiful greenspaces and Love Parks Week is a chance to celebrate the role these spaces play in bringing communities together and enhancing the wellbeing of residents and visitors alike.

The Town Council is looking forward to hosting this event, which will provide the perfect opportunity for everyone to experience the benefits of being outdoors, see what the Nothe Gardens has to offer and take part in a variety of fun activities, suitable for all the family.

There will be a ‘Teddy Bears’ Picnic’ theme to the event, so members of the public are encouraged to bring a blanket, a picnic to enjoy together, and their favourite teddy.

Plus, an exciting element to this event is the eagerly anticipated teddy bear zipwire. Children are encouraged to bring along their favourite cuddly toy and join in with the fun to watch it whizz through the air in the gardens!

The Mayor of Weymouth, Cllr Caroline Nickinson will officially open the event at 10am and further details of what is on offer during the day is shown below:

10.05am and 12pm – Family Yoga session

10.30am and 12.30pm – Story time with Weymouth Library

11am and 12.45pm – Live music from local talent Lewis Snarey

Cllr Caroline Nickinson, Mayor of Weymouth, said: “We take great pride in our parks and gardens and hosting events such as this is a great opportunity to engage with the community and allow members of the public to enjoy all the benefits of being in a greenspace. Whether you want to take part in family yoga, listen to the stories being told, enjoy the live music or simply just appreciate being in the great outdoors, I would encourage all to come along on 31st July.”

There will also be refreshments from ‘Mad Mitch’ ice cream van, ‘Flippin Delicious Pancakes’ and ‘The Barista Bike’ coffees. Members of the public will be able to visit stalls from Friends of Tumbledown, Love Dogs West Dorset, Nothe Fort and Dorset Police to find out more information on their services.
