Round-up of decisions from Environment and Services Committee

The following decisions were taken by the committee on Wednesday 16th July.

Seafront Lighting – Working Group the Committee agree to appoint a working group of at least four members to consider options and costs in respect of any new seafront electrical infrastructure decisions which will be bought back to this Committee for consideration.  

12 months cost benefits of electric vehicle charging points Members noted progress and agree to continue the direction of travel as per the previously adopted decarbonisation action plan.  

Winter Sea Water Testing The Council will continue to conduct a water quality monitoring programme at Greenhill Beach from October 2025 to May 2026 and to publicly share the results in line with bathing water classifications on the Council’s website. The Leader of the Council will write to the Environment Agency to encourage year-round water testing.

Introduction of card payment system at Swannery Toilets a card payment system will be introduced at the Swannery Toilets with an increase of charge to 50p per use.  

Free Toilet access for events Agreed a policy, as amended, to allow free access to paid-entry toilet facilities for selected events, as determined through an annual application and review process.  

2025 Christmas Event Agreement The 2025 Christmas Event Partnership Agreement with We Are Weymouth was approved.
