Mayor’s Thanks for Successful Christmas Concert
From the Mayor and Mayoress of Weymouth, Cllr Graham Winter and Mrs Mary Jordan Winter.
On behalf of myself and Mary we’d like to express our thanks to all those that attended and contributed towards the Carol Concert on Saturday in St. Mary’s Church. We raised nearly £300 for my charity, ‘Family Matters’, and a big thank you for everyone’s generosity. When guests arrived they were able to enjoy the angels on display from local schools and we’d like to thank the children for contributing these to St. Mary’s Church in time for our concert.
I’d particularly like to thank One Voice Choir for leading the concert in a first class performance and my Chaplain Honorary Alderman Rev’d Brian Ellis for conducting the concert.
The Concert was part of a full day starting with the Angels Parade and a visit to the Victorian Christmas by Radipole Lake. Both were excellent events and all seemed to be having a fun time. The day was finished with a Christmas Concert by the Choral Society in Holy Trinity Church, again a first class performance with their special guest Joan Bakewell.
Sunday was of course Chase the Pudding and Elf on the beach. Although this was very cold it was a huge amount of fun. Thank you to all those who turned out and contributed towards the The Will Mackaness Trust which is an excellent charity who does a lot of good work. It was great to support a community event, that we in Weymouth do so well, which in turn supports the The Will Mackaness Trust.
