Looking for a new hobby in 2023? Why not consider volunteering?
We have a number of Friends’ groups that help with tasks at our parks and open spaces in Weymouth, as well as at Tumbledown – a former farm.
The ‘Friends’ are groups of volunteers who support all sorts of activities in Weymouth’s parks and gardens. From running events and fundraising to picking litter and helping prune orchards, there are lots of opportunities to get involved.
If you would like your name passed on to the relevant group, email parks@weymouthtowncouncil.gov.uk with details of which one you would like to join. For details, visit our Parks & Gardens – Weymouth Town Council | Weymouth Town Council page.
As well as our parks and gardens we have regular volunteering sessions being held at Tumbledown on Mondays and Fridays of each week. Tasks are extremely varied, ranging from propagating plants, setting seeds, weeding and managing vegetable beds, through to digging, preparation of beds, fence building, stage building, hedge restoration, and tree planting. Everyone is welcome – hot drinks and good company included.
