Grants awarded at Finance and Governance Committee Meeting

Grants ranging from learning cookery skills to fishing equipment were awarded at last night’s Finance and Governance Committee meeting (Wednesday 4th October).

Weybay Crafters are a community group for local people who enjoy crafting. They were awarded £957.04 to go towards a safe and friendly place to carry out their crafts.

Radipole Lake Angling Society were awarded a grant to go towards new fishing platforms as the current ones are no longer fit for purpose. They were awarded £2,700.

Friendly Food Club are a charity who provide free food classes and workshops for those who are wanting to learn how to cook. They were awarded £1,120.

Weymouth Area Development Trust (WADT) applied for a grant of £5,000 to go towards jointly running the Weymouth Information Shop, which was also awarded.

Funding is currently available through Weymouth Town Council’s grant scheme, with the aim of benefiting worthy community, voluntary and charitable organisations in the local area.

Organisations that work with communities Weymouth can apply for a grant to help fund things like new projects, equipment, events or training.
