Boundary changes implemented in Weymouth area
Following Dorset Council’s community governance review last year, some important changes to local councils came into effect on April 1st.
The physical boundary of some council wards have changed which means around 200 extra properties now fall under Weymouth Town Council instead of their old parish council area.
Residents in these areas have received a leaflet outlining the changes. This coincided with information that Dorset Council sent out with Council Tax bills in March. For more information on the boundary changes, contact Weymouth Town Council or visit the website to see a map of the new ward boundaries. For more information about Council Tax bills, please contact Dorset Council at revenueservices@dorsetcouncil.gov.uk or call 01305 211970.
The boundary changes will also mean that at the next local election on May 2nd, the Town Council will go from having 29 Councillors to 25.
Thinking of standing to be a Weymouth Town Councillor? There’s still time, but hurry – you have until 4pm on Friday 5th April to hand deliver your nomination papers to Dorset Council.
