Beach Tender Opportunities
Weymouth Town Council is inviting Tender submissions for:
– 4 x Seasonal Beach Catering Sites
– 3 x Non Food Retail Sites
– 1 x Seasonal Attraction
This is a rare opportunity to manage a seafront seasonal business in an established south coastal resort in the prime section of Weymouth beach where trading has been a feature of the seafront since the early 19th century.
The kiosks will trade alongside other established catering facilities located on the promenade and on the beach as well as a range of other attraction concessions. The Beach and Promenade Plan that illustrates the layout of the sites of the kiosks, seasonal concessions and other seafront businesses, forms part of the Tender documentation.
The Council has recently committed to being a Real Living Wage employer and would encourage submissions to reflect this.
Catering and Non Food Retail Sites
Trading will be permitted from the sites between the 1st March and 7th October (inclusive); commencing March 2020 for a term of 10 years; with a break option at year 5.
The successful Tenderers will be response for supplying the kiosks and decking, which must be constructed in accordance with the Council’s design and specification, details of which are included in the Tender documentation.
The catering kiosks include an area of external decking on the beach for tables and chairs. There is no internal seating. Non-Food Retail Kiosks have an area of limited external decking that can be used for the display of retail items approved by the Council.
All kiosks and structures must be removed from the Seafront out of season and stored off site by the Lessee.
Attraction Site
Trading will be permitted from the site between 1st March and 7th October (inclusive) 2020 only. This tender is for a single season only.
The seasonal attraction site on offer through this tender is located opposite 58 The Esplanade, measures 20m x15m and has a height restriction of 6m.
The Council is not seeking large noisy fairground type rides on the beach. Traditional and modern attractions will be considered. Previously attractions have included children’s track-based rides.
