Weymouth Town Council is one of the largest town councils in the country. It has a range of services from the beach, esplanade, parks, gardens and events to cemeteries, public toilets and allotments.

This post provides an exciting opportunity to join the council’s new Resort Team which provides an integrated approach to the management of council activities and assets on the beach, seafront and town centre – including catering and cleansing. The new team will complement the activities of other council services (e.g. parks and contracts) and contribute to the ethos of the council as ‘one team’. The customers of the service include residents, visitors and local businesses, and its key partners will include Dorset Council, We Are Weymouth, Chamber of Commerce, Police, RNLI, cultural and heritage organisations, and the tourism sector.

Weymouth seafront (beach and Promenade) are a significant tourist attraction and a beautiful open space enjoyed by residents all year round. It is also the venue for a wide range of popular events and festivals, including major sporting events such as the IronMan triathlon and the council’s Armed Forces Weekend, beach sports festival, and firework nights.

As the Resort team aims to operate on a 7-day-a-week basis, some weekend working will be expected and the equivalent time can be taken off during the week.

The successful candidate will have the opportunity to join the Local Government Pension Scheme, and holiday entitlement for a full year is 24 days plus days in lieu of public holidays, increasing after five years.

The key responsibilities and person specification can be found in the job description:
