Temporary closure of Custom House Quay for Quayside Music Festival

DORSET COUNCIL has issued a Notice under Section 16A of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 to prohibit the use of Custom House Quay, Weymouth between underneath the town lifting bridge and St. Mary Street, by cyclists, horse riders and all mechanically propelled vehicles, except those taking part in the event and emergency vehicles.
The alternative routes for through traffic from the west will be via Commercial Road, Lower St Alban Street and St. Thomas Street to St. Edmund Street and from the east via St. Mary Street, St. Edmund Street and Lower St. Edmund Street to Commercial Road.
As a result of this closure, the following other measures will take effect between the times indicated above:
– The diversion route through Lower St. Alban Street and St. Thomas Street will mean that the Prohibition of Driving Order in Lower St. Alban Street which starts at its junction with St Nicholas Street will be revoked temporarily
– Parking spaces (six bays) in Zone F will not be available on Custom House Quay outside ‘The Rendezvous’
– Pedestrian access to the area between ‘The Rendezvous’ and St. Mary Street on Custom House Quay will be restricted. Pedestrians will be permitted to use the town bridge steps upwards from Custom House Quay to town bridge only
