SUMMARY:Sevenoaks & Tonbridge Concert Band Performance
DESCRIPTION:The Sevenoaks and Tonbridge Concert Band was formed in 1980 and is an amateur symphonic wind band from Kent. Members of the band come from a wide geographic ranging from East Sussex up to South East London. Members must be of grade 7 & 8 standard to join. We rehearse during term time and perform numerous indoor and outdoor concerts throughout the year. The band is delighted to be visiting the Jurassic Coast during August Bank holiday. Our programme includes a wide variety of music ranging from The Beatles to Gershwin as well as film scores such as Pirates of the Caribbean and Mary Poppins. There will be something to suit all tastes. \nOur schedule is as follows:\nSaturday 26 August Music for A Summer’s Evening St John’s\, Church\, Weymouth\, 7pm– 8.30pm\nThis is a fundraising concert for local charity Hope House. The Mayor of Weymouth\, Cllr Kate Wheller will be attending. This is a free concert. There will be a retiring collection.\nSunday 27 August Free outdoor performance Swanage Bandstand\, 2pm – 4pm\nMonday 28 August Free outdoor performance Jubilee Clock\, Weymouth\, 12 – 2pm \nWe are excited to be performing at such lovely venues over the bank holiday weekend. DESCRIPTION:Our short season of summer evening concerts at All Saints\, featuring the church’s 1884 Henry Jones organ\, continues with a recital by organist Simon Clarkson. \nThe concert will include music by Stanford\, Parry\, and Coleridge-Taylor. \nBorn in Lancashire\, Simon Clarkson has pursued a varied career as a teacher\, soloist\, and accompanist on both the piano and organ. He is Head of Academic Music and Organist at Sherborne Girls School and regularly contributes to the weekly recital series in Sherborne Abbey\, as well as playing with several ensembles in the Southwest.
